Our Story
The Barn San Diego began as a dream to own an event center for people to gather together for food, fellowship and celebrations in San Diego, California. As we work on the BIG dream we are sowing the seeds for the cut flower farm that will supply the events with fresh locally grown flowers.
It’s a family affair on the farm!
A dream is only a dream until it is spoken out loud! I remember the day I shared my dream of owning an event space for people to come and gather. As we searched for the perfect location there was a stirring and we knew it was time to move our three teenage boys to a larger home as we were quickly out growing ours. In 2021, we sold and purchased our new home in the middle of a pandemic not knowing all that God had in store for our new home.
Our new 1 acre property had over 1/2 an acre of backyard that was longing for some life. We started the process in January of 2022 to build out the cut flower farm to sow the seeds for fresh locally grown flowers at our event space. Our plan was to use the first season to learn what flowers grew best in our new town and use those in the years to come for the special events held at The Barn.
As we head into our third year of the flower farm we have shared thousands of blooms with the local community, held on-farm events, and let the land show us how it wants to be nurtured. We learn everyday how little control we have over the flowers, and we allow ourselves to fail gracefully through the process. Nature has a way of teaching us exactly what the flowers need to thrive and we are leaning into the lessons.
